What does caring counts® mean?

You may notice the caring counts® theme incorporated into many of our communications this year, as we feel this helps convey an important component that sets us apart in the industry. As your managed care organization (MCO), we care enough to help you control premiums and claim costs by facilitating the care that helps injured employees recover and return to work as quickly and safely as possible. This includes coordinating with you and your employees, as well as medical providers and the Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation (BWC).

Despite a workers’ compensation environment that can occasionally be contentious, CompManagement Health Systems (CHS) has become a successful MCO by focusing on key objectives that all parties can agree on – let’s help the injured employee get the medical care they need, let’s get the right diagnosis identified and adjudicated by BWC, let’s get an appropriate treatment plan approved and moving forward, let’s maintain clarity on the recovery process, and let’s make sure everyone understands the physical demands and job flexibility to help coordinate an early return to work.

Our clients benefit when their injured employees better understand the process and their treatment, and focus on returning to productivity as quickly and safely as possible. The team at CHS is here to help them accomplish that. When a claim is reported, we reach out to the employee and ask how they are doing. We make sure they have access to the medical resources they need, listen to their concerns, answer questions, and explain the roles and responsibilities of our team.

Our clients care about their employees’ wellbeing and we reflect their concern in the way we execute the medical management process. We do more than just focus on satisfying BWC requirements. We favor a high level of engagement with treating physicians to explore the most effective options and limit unnecessary litigation and delays due to treatment disputes. We do all we can to keep injured employees focused on getting healthy and back on the job, and we work to prevent inefficient, unproductive and excessive treatment that fails to adequately address their injury.

Caring counts® epitomizes who we are as a company and as individuals who make an impact on the lives of others every day. We are committed to helping you navigate the managed care process and control costs while helping your injured employees get the appropriate medical treatment so they can recover and return to work. Taking care of people is at the heart of everything we do.
